ABOUT
Hey! My name is Kendall, but you can call me KP.
I have a BA in Media Studies from Pomona College and am currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing at the American University of Paris.
I am a creative storyteller who is dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices through my work. I am dedicated to engaging audiences through my leadership, creative writing, and attention to detail. I take pride in creating products that are original, engaging, and thought-provoking. I love telling stories about my queer, trans, and Southern identities, as well as the environment and science, often through the lens of the supernatural.
Some of my current projects include a prose poetry novel about the life of Sainte Geneviève de Paris, a Ghibli-esque eco-horror about farming pollution in Appalachia, and a novel about a coven of queer witches in the South-Eastern US who offer reproductive healthcare under the guise of a taxidermy shop.
My soft skills include strong written and verbal communication (screenwriting, creative, technical, and correspondence writing), script coverage, collaboration, time management, aesthetic judgment, talent appraisal, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving. My technical skills include use of social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Reddit), the operation of the Microsoft and Google Suites, video editing in iMovie, and Adobe Premiere, photo editing in Adobe Photoshop, use of Adobe InDesign, and basic camera operation. Also, je parle français and I can drive.
While the majority of my work is in PR and Social Media, I am incredibly inspired by long-form storytelling and seriality. My current interests lie in screenwriting, directing, and producing.
Now, enough with the professional talk...
Growing up in rural North Carolina, I didn't know being queer was an option until I saw a lesbian couple with a baby in the Seattle airport. Books, TV, and Film were my ways into a world nobody back home dared to tell me about. I want to help make media that feels like home for the next generation, to tell stories that create empathy in viewers.
I'm a jack of all trades (I act, paint, sculpt and throw ceramics, make my own jewelry and Halloween costumes), so if there's a skill not listed here, reach out, and we'll see what we can do!
